Highmoor Ibis v Abingdon United (Hellenic League Premier) 6th September 2014
An 'extra' game for me as a planned evening in Wales had lead me to believe I would get no game this weekend. However, my wonderful wife consented to me going to a local game on the basis I was back to go to Wales at 4.45 so I managed to watch all but the last 10 minutes of this match and saw all three goals in the home teams 2-1 win.

Mangotsfield United v Cribbs (FA Cup preliminary round) 30th August 2014
A visit to Bristol and a new ground for me
A chance for a cup upset with a Western League division one team visiting a Southern League south and west division team.
Over all it was an entertaining game with Cribbs taking the game to their hosts but getting caught on breaks with some clinical finishing.
By half time the visitors were 3-0 down but that did not stop there band of travelling fans singing throughout the game.
In the second half both sides continued to play football with Mangotsfield scoring a fourth
and missing a penalty
before Cribbs got a deserved goal
and almost scored a second
The hosts now play Weymouth in the 1st qualifying round

Holyport v Binfield (Helenic League Premier) 25th August 2014
Bank Holiday Monday and an unexpected game for us as prior family commitments had made the day a football free one originally.
Things changed but regardless of whether we had attended or not we still saw no goals.
The 0-0 draw had few chances for either team and a missed penalty
and a scuffed clearance saved by the Holyport goalkeeper
were two of the few highlights of a pretty tepid Berkshire derby.
Here is the Binfield match report

Tadley Caleva v Ascot United (FA Cup extra preliminary round reply) 19th Aug 2014
A reply at the same ground as the original tie between the home Sydenham Wessex League side and the visitors from the Hellenic League. Despite giving away home ground advantage in the first game, due to the Red Bull air world championships making their ground unavailable, Ascot got a 2-2 draw last Saturday and then had to replay at Tadley.
No program despite a pretty good crowd for this round but a board with the teams was up inside the ground

It was a fairly evenly contested first half with both teams having a good share of possession. Ascot scored the only goal of the period to lead 1-0 at half time with this goal.
The second half started with two quick goals for the visitors and then a penalty which gave them a comfortable 4-0 lead.
Tadley then seemed to get their tails up and scored twice but it was too late and despite attacking to the end they went out of the cup 2-4.

Badshot Lea v Binfield (FA Cup extra preliminary round) 16th August 2014
A disappointing day for Binfield as they go out of the FA Cup in their first game in a Hellenic League Combined Counties league clash.
The game was played at Ash United's ground where Badshot ground share.
Binfield had most of the possession but allowed a defensive lapse late in the first half to trail 1-0 at the break. In the second half Binfield again dominated possession but having to take the game to a solid Badshot Lea defence saw them concede twice more.

St Mirren v Hamilton Academical (Scottish Premier Football League) 13th August 2014
A trip north of the border with work gave me a chance to watch the team I hold shares in.
I was transported to the ground by Henry and Heather who actually support Motherwell (but they were away at Dundee so they decided to come along with me).
New St Mirren Park is, as the name implies a new ground. There seemed to be a fairly full house but the crowd was announced as just over 3,635 although that did not include about 250 + Hamilton fans (and therefore me, Henry and Heather). Clearly the ground did not have a high capacity although it was modern and clean throughout.
This was the view we had
I kept my record of seeing the Accies win at 100% as they netted twice to secure a 2-0 win.

Binfield FC v Oxford City Nomads (Hellenic League Premier) 11th August 2014
Back to Hill Farm Lane for the second game of the season and the first Monday night football. Plenty more goals but a lose to the home team as they went down 3-2.

Binfield FC v Wotton Bassett Town (Hellenic League Premier) 9th August 2014
A new season and the first competitive game for both me and the son.
A nice way to start with our side running out 6-1 winners without looking that convincing.
